How do I schedule an appointment?

You can schedule your appointments online using Jane, our secure and easy-to-use booking system. Jane allows you to view real-time availability, book and manage appointments at your convenience, complete intake forms ahead of time, receive appointment reminders, and join telehealth sessions. It’s designed to make the process simple and streamlined, so you can focus on your care. If you have questions about using Jane, the online guide can be found here.

Do I need a referral from a doctor to start physical therapy?

Accepted Answer

No — you do not need a referral to start physical therapy with us, whether you live in New York or New Jersey.
For New York patients: NY law allows you to start PT without a referral for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first. Beyond that point, a physician referral is required to continue care.
For New Jersey patients: You may continue care as long as you are making appropriate progress. If your case requires services outside the scope of physical therapy or progress stalls, a referral may be needed.

Important note: Insurance requirements may differ. Some plans require a referral for reimbursement, so it’s always a good idea to check with your insurer.

What should I expect at my first visit?

Your first visit is a 60-minute, one-on-one evaluation focused on understanding you and your specific concerns. It includes a detailed conversation about your history, a comprehensive physical assessment, and a discussion of your goals.

From there, we’ll outline a personalized treatment plan and begin care, so you leave with a clear understanding of what’s going on and how we’ll approach it.

How is your pregnancy and postpartum care different from pelvic floor physical therapy?

My approach to pregnancy and postpartum care focuses on the integration of the pelvic floor with the rest of the body—how you move, load, and build strength during and after pregnancy. Treatment emphasizes external assessment, functional movement, and progressive strengthening to support recovery, fitness, and return to activity.

While I incorporate pelvic floor considerations into care, I do not perform internal pelvic floor examinations or treatment. Patients who require or prefer internal pelvic floor therapy may be better served by a pelvic floor physical therapist, and I’m always happy to refer when appropriate.

In addition to clinical training, my approach is informed by personal experience navigating pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and diastasis recti. This allows me to provide practical, individualized guidance that supports both recovery and long-term strength.

How do I get the most out of my virtual session?

Accepted Answer

To get the most out of a virtual session, you’ll need a reliable internet connection, working audio, and a space where you can move comfortably. Position your camera so your full body is visible, as much of the session involves guided movement and assessment.

Virtual visits are real physical therapy sessions conducted remotely, so having a quiet, private environment where you can focus and participate fully will help ensure the best experience.
